Congratulations to JV Head Coach Ken McGuire on being named Hamilton's Volunteer Coach of the Year!!

Brief mention in this article from the Hamilton Mountain news. Read Here.

Coach Ken's response :  "What a tribute to the Ironmen Organization this is. I understand that they give it to one person, but it really belongs to all of us - coaches, executive, volunteers and players past and present. This is an honour that falls on all of us, it is wonderful to be involved in such a successful organization - think of it - 10 years of a winning tradition in football. No way could one person make this happen, it takes a team to make it work."

Senior Ironmen Final Score : Ironmen   Cumberland Panthers 3

A perhaps "over confident" Junior  Ironmen squad showed up in Georgetown looking for an easy win. The score at halftime was 8-0 Ironmen on a single point by Domenic Bellardini and the only major score was a 41 yard defensive touchdown by Conner Hitchcock
Georgetown showed some grit and determination but it wasn't enough as the Hamilton squad came out in the second half and scored two majors, one rushing touchdown by Jordan Galway and a touchdown pass to Zach Lascelle.  Final score Ironmen 23 Georgetown Crimson Tide 0.

Varsity final Score - Ironmen 24   Essex 21 (OT)
9 solo tackles           4 assists          1 sack          1 blocked kick           1 fumble recovery for a 90 yard TD and              1 INT

Junior Final Score - Ironmen 20 Essex 14

Another tough battle won by the Ironmen 20-14. Special Teams and Defense were the difference in Steeltown. A 60 yard punt return for a touchdown by Brendan Fitzpatrick along with a 35 yard interception return by Domenic Bellardini for a touchdown sealed the 3rd consecutive win for the Ironmen. Essex played well on the road with a couple of long passes for touchdowns but could not capitalize on their last drive which died inside the Ironmen 10 yard line.

Junior Varsity Ironmen win a hard fought defensive struggle 16-14 over London in London. Domenic Bellardini opened  the Ironmen scoring with a single point on a punt. Mike Smith then scored the first TD after an interception return of 70 yards by Alex Bourgeios. Later in the first half, the Falcons marched down the field only to get intercepted once again by Alex Bourgeios near the Ironmen goal line. The Ironmen lead throughout the game after the first TD. Chris Jugovic tossed a nice touchdown pass to Matt Bent to give the Ironmen their second touchdown on the day. Bellardini then kicked off and added a single to his excellent kicking and punting day. The defence played well blocking a field goal and putting constant pressure on the Falcons QB and their star runningback. Late in the game, after knocking the Falcons starting QB out of the game, the Falcons defence came up big on a 4th and 1 at the 50 yard line. London was able to capitalize with a touchdown on a hurry up Offence, getting behind the Ironmen deep zone coverage. The Ironmen then came up with a wall of defensive players denying the London Falcon QB a 2 point conversion at the 1 yard line to avert the tie.

Varsity Ironmen win 39 - 7 over Niagara Spears in Niagara - trademark solid defence - led by Steve Ventresca with 3 of the Ironmen's 5 picks. (Should've had 4 !!!) Cody Lynch had 1 interception which he ran in for a touchdown and Frankie Cerino had the other pick. The defence came up huge, even when the starters were pulled and the backups came in. On the offensive side of the ball, Danny Cerino threw for over 300 yards - many of them (5 times for 137 yards and 2 touchdowns) to Michael DiCroce. Nathan Lane snagged 2 for 87 yards , Mike Kloosterman 2 for 56 and a touchdown as well as Malcolm Paul - 1 for 20 and a touchdown.

And this just in ....   Danny Cerino named Offensive Player of the Week on the OVFL site!

Junior Varsity Ironmen win 42 - 7 over Niagara Spears - offensive production from  Micheal Smith (McNab) with 3 TDs, Daniel DiCroce (Newman), Zac Lascelle (Newman), and Ryan Lambert with 2 FG's (Blessed Trinity).

Standouts on Defense include Remato Rossi with 2 sacks (Bishop Ryan) , Steve Pieterse (Hill Park), Darnell Swaby (McNab) and Brendan Fitzpatrick (Newman).

PeeWee Ironmen win 22 - 6 over Toronto Thunder  The Peewee team finished off opening day for the Ironmen organization with a win to make it 3 for 3. Jordan Brucculeri was at the helm for most of the offensive plays with TDs being scored by Devin Joseph and Nigel Applewhaite.  The Defensive team played a significant role in the victory with 2 interceptions.  All in all, an excellent start to the season.
